. >> bret: we saw on the web this clip between rand pal and mitch mcconnell how they thought it was turning the republicans' way actually as this no negotiation stance by the white house and senator reid continues. in the senate, behind the scenes, what's going on? >> well, i think the one thing that has been notable is you have seen folks like rob portman, bob corker, john mccain, some of the more deal-making inclined senators, not necessarily moderate, trying to refocus whether it's within senate features or even behind the scenes background talks with other democrats. trying to refocus the debate away from obama care and back to spending and tax reform, again, the spending level of the cr and making sure that the sequestration cuts stay in there. now, again, that's a challenge because as you know the tea party faction both in the house and certainly senator ted cruz and mike lee have just been completely focused on obama care. that has made this tough because in the past, think about it, usually these negotiations get stuck over numbers. so there is some way to split the difference wheth
